Chinese Hot and Sour Soup

1/2 C. dried wood ear (softened in water and chopped)
1/4 C.  chicken or pork cut into strips and mixed with 1 tsp. cornstarch
6 C. chicken broth
1/2 tsp white pepper
2 T. rice vinegar
1 T. soy sauce
2 T. cornstarch mixed with 1/4 C. water (slurry to thicken soup)
1/4 lb. bean curd cut into strips
1 beaten egg
1 tsp. sesame oil
fresh cilantro and or chives

Soften wood ear in water. then cut into strips. Mix chicken or pork with cornstarch and a couple drops of soy sauce. Cook in a little oil. add remaining ingredients except for egg and sesame oil. When soup come to a boil add beaten egg while stirring. remove from heat and add sesame oil. Garnish with fresh cilantro and/or green onion or chives.  A great accompaniment to pot stickers
