Debra Jo's Chinese Soy Sauce Eggs

                     Debra Jo's Soy Sauce Eggs

boil 12-18 eggs for approximately seven minutes
Immerse in cold water to cool and peel (adding baking soda to the cold water will make eggs easier to peel) While eggs are cooling, bring marinating sauce to a boil.
Marinating Sauce
3 C. water
1 C. soy sauce
1 heaping tablespoon brown sugar
orange peel or zest
2-3 lemon leafs
1 star anise
2-3 cloves of garlic
2-3 slices of ginger
2 slices of 
                                       甘草
licorice root 

                                             酸梅

1 dried chinese plum 

Add peeled eggs to marinating sauce and steep for several hours or overnight
